How you dress expresses more than your fashion preferences. It can communicate self-confidence, character, attitude, interests, and more. And, we all know a first impression can be a lasting impression, especially when it comes to work and new relationships. These three steps will help you weed out clothing that's not working in your favor, and help you create a winning wardrobe.

Activity

We've all been to an activity where many attendees seem overdressed, underdressed, or simply out of context. With a little effort and research you can get to know the activity and what's appropriate before you choose your attire. For example, before going to a job interview research the dress code. Wear clothing that meets or slightly exceeds the norm to make a good impression. The same is true when visiting clients. How you dress forms a lasting first impression.

Style

Your style is often expressed through your love of certain fabrics, patterns, prints, or textures. This combined with accessories plays an important role in how you express your style. Most people tend to wear three basic styles: traditional or conservative, sporty, and trendy. Regardless, it's important to wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Pick clothes that reflect your personality and lifestyle to build a useful and enjoyable wardrobe collection that will last for years to come.

Colors and Prints

An article in the Huffington Post named -Clothes And Personality: What Your Favourite Colour Says About You,-  suggests that people who always wearing black may be authoritative and timeless, not simply chic. Green makes one appear wealthy or refreshing, and white portrays cleanliness. Color or shade choices change depending on your mood, the season, and other factors. In the summer, for example, you may wear lighter and brighter colors, while in fall your choices get warmer and darker.

The bottom line is that when it comes to choosing a color the most important thing is to love what you wear. Never choose a color that doesn't make you feel your best for any reason.

Prints are another consideration. Florals are a universally flattering and neutral print. This means you can combine them with other patterns, like stripes or dots, or wear them on their own.  Polka dots, plaids, and animal prints can be fun as well. However, keep the activity in mind before choosing a print.

As you build your personal wardrobe, remember to check care labels. Various fabrics and dyes require dry cleaning. And of course, at DELIA'S Cleaners, we'll be sure your favorites always look and feel their best.
